We always take a step down a slippery slope of idolatry when we begin to make God look like He is smaller than He really is. I say idoloatry because when we make God out to be someone who He is not then we are casting a wrong image of Him in our minds and to others. That in itself is one of the most dangerous, if not the most dangerous, forms of idolatry that we can commit against Him (see Knowing God by Packer). Taylor's quote of Ps 115:3 and Ephesians are sufficient enough evidence from God's Word on His omnipotence. Campolo would be wise to seek not to make God look more like man, but to let Him be who His Word has described Him as being in all of His glorious greatness.
