My good friend, Jeremy Bass, who is both a math nerd and one of the most brilliant people I've ever met (and devout follower of Jesus) told me about an upcoming never-to-be-repeated event. This Wednesday at two mintutes and 3 seconds after 1:00 AM, the exact time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.

Interesting. I should have set my alarm so that I could have gotten up to celebrate it. :-) Although not technically the same, we could pretend to celebrate it at 1:02 pm.
Chemists Are Math Nerds Too
So we put our heads together in the grad student office, and we came up with some ways to console ourselves on having missed 01:02:03 04/05/06
First of all, if you use the European system of dating (dd/mm/yy) instead of the American (mm/dd/yy), then we'll get to celebrate this again on May 4th, only still written the same
01:02:03 04/05/06
Of course, there are other renditions by combining numbers, such as the celebration in May of 2007
12:03:04 05/06/07
You could squabble here, though, about ignoring zero's, so an obvious improvement on this is
12:34:56 7/8/09
But I think the king of them all, using all ten digits (if I'm still alive) will come in 2090!
12:34:56 7/8/90
This doesn't even include the possibility of writing the date before the time....
Boy! I'll be able to sleep well tonight knowing I've had my fill of trivia. :-)
In Australia it will happen very early on Stars Wars Day.
