As a follow up to this morning's message The Master's Men, I recommend John MacArthur's excellent book on the lives of the twelve disciples, Twelve Ordinary Men. MacArthur presents interesting and colorful vignettes on each of the twelve disciples, mining tradition and church history for information on each man, and gleaning from their lives practical lessons for today's believers. 
This book is based in part on one of MacArthur's most popular seven-part preaching series, The Master's Men. The preaching series is as rich as the book and would be well worth the investment of time and money, especially if you are an auditory learner and prefer listening to reading. You can purchase the sermons indvidually or as a set.
