C. S. Lewis compared pride to the scratching of an itch: “The pleasure of pride is like the pleasure of scratching. If there is an itch one does want to scratch; but it is much nicer to have neither the itch nor the scratch. As long as we have the itch of self-regard, we shall want the pleasure of self-approval; but the happiest moments are those when we forget our precious selves and have neither but everything else (God, our fellow humans, animals, the garden and the sky) instead.”
Are you itching?

thanks! I always enjoy a CS Lewis quote!
Hello,
My name is Lionel Woods and I live in Aubrey, TX (Dallas/Ft. Worth area). I ran across your site, by messing with other sites. I first wanted to say hello. Secondly, I wanted to ask, do you have any plans on reaching out to the Benton Harbor area? I was born and raised there and left for the military. I have had a burden during the last few years, due to the fact there isn't one sound, black church, withing a 100 mile radius. There are some churches in BH that seem to be pretty solid, but I don't see them doing much to contribute to the area. Here is my blog, and I would love to get in contact with you.

Your Brother in Christ,
After reading Lewis, the world always seems a little clearer. It's the job of philosophy to do that for people, but it's so rarely accomplished by people who philosophize professionally.
